No one creates cinematic worlds like legendary director Ridley Scott. For The Last Duel, he took audiences back in time to 14th century France to tell the true story of the final “trial by duel” sanctioned by the king. 

Since audiences can be put off by historical stories and because The Last Duel deals with difficult subject matter, it was important to approach the film in the right way. Rather than focusing on the film’s historicity or the sexual attack that motivates the plot, we showed off the incredible world building, production values, incredible action, and Jodie Comer’s breakthrough performance with content that utilized modern, cutting-edge design techniques. And without losing sight that the film also stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Driver, we wanted to be sure to frame the picture as a woman’s story rather than attempting to “mansplain” the past from their perspectives.
