Turner reached out for help in crafting an intro to their 2017 Upfront that would break from the usual sizzles, data & buzzwords common to these events.
Our focus: tell a human story of the brand’s evolution and ambitious plans via the authentic, enthusiastic voices of the executives and talent responsible for it.
Working with the Turner events team, we developed a structure, voice & tone, and visual style guide that served as our north star for the interview questions, editing, lighting and filmmaking approach.
Over the following months, we organized multiple directors and crews in Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta, quickly mounting productions based on the availability of high-level executives and celebrities across the Turner brand portfolio.
Meanwhile, our brand designers collaborated with our creative directors and editors in post to develop an approach that took advantage of the multiple screens across the event stage while keeping with our down-to-earth, understated esthetic.
The result was a loose, documentary-style opening film that captured the authentic excitement of our subjects, setting the tone for the rest of the event.
